Key Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, and validation of powertrain components and vehicle integration packages across current and future model lines
• Conduct simulations, bench tests, and on-vehicle measurements to verify performance, durability, NVH, and thermal behaviour against specification
• Collaborate cross-functionally with chassis, electronics, software, and styling teams to ensure seamless system integration
• Manage component-level requirements, technical specifications, and change requests throughout the product development lifecycle
• Liaise with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers on component design reviews, prototype delivery, and quality issue resolution
• Analyse test data, prepare detailed engineering reports, and present findings to programme leadership and technical review boards
• Support homologation, type-approval, and compliance activities in line with EU and global automotive regulations
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, lessons-learned activities, and the rollout of new engineering tools and methods

Requirements

• 4-7 years of automotive engineering experience, ideally with an OEM or major Tier 1 supplier
• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering (Dipl.-Ing. / MSc preferred)
• Hands-on experience with powertrain systems, internal combustion, hybrid, or battery-electric, and vehicle-level integration
• Proficiency with CAD (CATIA V5/V6 or Siemens NX), simulation tools (Matlab/Simulink, AVL, GT-Suite), and data acquisition systems
• Solid understanding of automotive development processes (APQP, V-model), functional safety (ISO 26262), and relevant homologation standards
• Strong analytical mindset, structured working style, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced programme environment
• Fluent German and professional English are essential; additional European languages advantageous
• EU work authorisation required; willingness to be based on-site in the Stuttgart region
